Spring Celebration

Description

Spring Celebration was premiered at Moreton Youth String Orchestra’s concert in Spring of 2021. The piece captures the life and joy one feels in nature on a glorious spring day. Charming melodies and countermelodies are contrasted with playful rhythmic passages that explore the compound metre of the piece. Lyrical lines are contrasted with strong, accented passages that encourage maturing players to explore a full range of expression in their playing.

About the Composer:

Henry Jarvela graduated with a Bachelor of Music (Cello performance) from the Qld Conservatorium, Griffith University, in 2019. As a performer, Henry has been a member of both the Qld and Australian Youth Orchestras, as well as local community groups. Henry has had an interest in composing from a young age and a number of his pieces have been performed by students in his local community. Since graduating, Henry has become more involved in the teaching and mentoring of young string players both privately and in a school and community context.
